SEMESTER GRADING – Video Game Design II

Learning Goal #5: Basic JavaScript Programming (4 weeks)
During the first four weeks, students will be asked and reminded to follow routines. Most of the grades for this period will be based on a student’s ability to demonstrate mutual respect in the classroom, to follow instructions, and to keep up with ongoing challenges. Below are the things that will be graded in Skyward during this period.

  1. Daily Design Points #1 (Quality Participation Grade)
  2. Daily Design Points #2 (Quality Participation Grade)
  3. Daily Design Points #3 (Quality Participation Grade)
  4. File Folder Organization (Assessment/Evaluation Grade)
  5. Penzu Posting Assignment (Writing Grade)
  6. Quarter Quiz #1 (Assessment/Evaluation Grade)

Learning Goal #6: The HTML5 Canvas Element (5 weeks)
During the second four weeks, students will be asked to complete a number of simple and complex challenges. Most of the grades for this period will be based on a student’s ability to complete those challenges, to assist their partners, and to offer constructive input in class discussions. Below are the things that will be graded in Skyward during this period.

  1. Daily Design Points #4 (Quality Participation Grade)
  2. Daily Design Points #5 (Quality Participation Grade)
  3. Daily Design Points #6 (Quality Participation Grade)
  4. Penzu Posting Assignment (Writing Grade)

Learning Goal #7: 3JS Variable Manipulation (3 weeks)
During the third four weeks, students will be granted a little more freedom in their coding. Most of the grades for this period will be based on a student’s ability to demonstrate moderated enthusiasm, to write effective JavaScript notes, and to apply/explain the process of variable manipulation. Below are the things that will be graded in Skyward during this period.

  1. Daily Design Points #7 (Quality Participation Grade)
  2. Commentary Demo (Beginner Writing Grade)
  3. Expository Demo (Intermediate Writing Grade)
  4. Tutorial Demo (Advanced Writing Grade)
  5. Quarter Project #1 (Assessment/Evaluation Grade)

Learning Goal #8: 3JS Interactive Environments (6 weeks)
During the final four weeks, students will be applying much of what they’ve learned to the creation of three-dimensional objects and avatars. Most of the grades for this period will be based on a student’s ability to use their resources, to work effectively with a partner, and to build a unique three-dimensional game environment. Below are the things that will be graded in Skyward during this period.

  1. Daily Design Points #8 (Quality Participation Grade)
  2. Daily Design Points #9 (Quality Participation Grade)
  3. Daily Design Points #10 (Quality Participation Grade)
